Tourism in Honduras is one of the fastest growing industries in the country. There are a lot of beautiful destinations in the country, where you can experience different types of food, participate in different activities and appreciate different sceneries. Because of its wonderful climate, Honduras receives tourists year round, there is no problem since there is a 25-30 degree Celsius temperature year round. Some of the most attractive destinations include: Roatan, Utila, and Cayos Cochinos, which are the ones that we will discuss in this post.
Roatan and Utila are two islands located in the north of the country, these two are the most famous of the Bay Islands. These Islands are famouse for the coral reef that passes near them and visit them all throughout the year to scuba dive, snorkel or just relax in the white sand beaches. If you do not have a scuba diving license yet, there is no problem because you can take a 3 day course right in any of the two islands and swim with the dolphins.
Cayos Cochinos, there are no words to describe it… just look at the video:
Cayos Cochinos is an archipealago of small keys, you can walk from one to the other, through crystal clear water. Cayos Cochinos is natural reserve and the government in Honduras has placed a lot of interest and funds in protecting this region. They are so serious with this initiative, that only a certain number of people are allowed to scuba dive or snorkel in the keys during a day, in order to keep this reserve as it is.
One funny fact about Cayos Cochinos, right now in Italy and Spain it is really famouse because they have filmed the reality show “Sobrevivientes” or Survivor in one of the keys.
Come and visit this paradise, you won’t regret it.
